
Visit with the theme “Hunting Trip at the Uffizi,” guided by Marco Masset
On February 7, 2020, at 4:30 PM, a guided tour titled “Hunting Trip at the Uffizi” took place at the Uffizi, led by the naturalist and historian of fauna Marco Masseti.
The event offered an original and fascinating experience, exploring the presence of hunting and animals in Renaissance and Baroque painting. Through a dedicated path, participants were able to discover how hunting was not only an activity practiced by the noble elite but also a symbol of power, status, and connection with nature.
During the tour, Marco Masseti explained how artists such as Paolo Uccello, Leonardo da Vinci, and Rubens depicted hunting scenes and wild animals in their works. Special attention was given to the representation of fauna in paintings, analyzing the naturalistic accuracy with which different species were portrayed.
The meeting provided an opportunity to delve into the relationship between art, nature, and hunting culture, offering a unique perspective on the Uffizi collections.
