A NEW SERVICE, A FIRST FOR ITALY
The Amici degli Uffizi and the Polo Museale Fiorentino,
have launched a new, permanent welcome service for the association’s members and
cultural visitors.
It is the first service of this kind in Italy
and it has been made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Province of
Florence
and the APT - Azienda di Promozione Turistica.
Thanks to the generosity of Fondiaria-SAI, the association, that has its
headquarters in Via Lorenzo il Magnifico,
has set up a welcome desk to receive its members, both old and new and visitors
who love art.
HOURS:
Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
PHONE:
Tel. (+39) 055 213560 - (+39) 055 284034
The welcome desk is located in the Sala delle Reali Poste, that is inside the
Uffizi museum complex.
Its aim is also to strengthen cooperation with the Soprintendenza and the
Galleria degli Uffizi.
“We wanted to create a welcome point for local citizens and visitors in the
world’s other great museums for some time,” says Maria Vittoria Rimbotti,
President of the Association.
“This is the first time that an Italian state museum is offering such a service.
This initiative is part of the association’s new approach.
Amici degli Uffizi is growing and aims at increasing its membership to sensitize
the public
about valorizing the cultural heritage and to encourage foreign patrons of the
arts and investors
to contribute more generously to the museum’s activities.
The Welcome Desk will be a reference point mainly for Florentines,
for those who love the museum and are interested in its care and protection.
Greeted by dedicated staff you will be able to register and become members or
renew your membership.
You will be able to access useful information about the museum and the city,
information about cultural programs sponsored by the Province of Florence and
the Tuscan Regional Government,
and via the online connection with the APT local citizens and visitors can
obtain real-time information
about current cultural programs.
The Welcome Desk is a perfect tool for assisting visitors, and for loyalizing
citizens to help them help their museum.
This type of facility is becoming a consolidated practice.
The new MOMA in New York has turned it into a new marketing tool with a specific
goal:
focus more energy on knowledgeable cultural tourism rather than the ‘hop in-hop
out tours”.
